An Overview of Day 7

The 7th day of each month provides an opportunity for us to reflect on our LeaderShape experiences, connect with one another, and act toward our vision. We celebrated many themes during the second half of 2017. Here’s an overview of what we focused on!

July 2017 – #BeABeliever

Believe: accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.

Figuring out ways to believe in yourself and how to show others that you believe in them is essential in life. Believing allows us to do some pretty incredible things in our lifetime. It’s important to surround yourself with people that believe in you and see greatness within you, even when you may not see it yourself. #BeABeliever and you will be an inspiration to yourself and everyone around you.

“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”

― Edmund Lee

August 2017 – #EmbraceFailure

Embracing failure: an act of accepting or supporting a lack of success, willingly or enthusiastically.

Being able to embrace failure allows us to be able to open our eyes to new perspectives that we never could have imagined otherwise. Failure can lead to even greater success because you are forced to find a better way to do something. When you fail, say “How fascinating!” Making mistakes makes you stronger. When you #EmbraceFailure, you set yourself up for an extraordinary future.

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.”

― J.K. Rowling

September 2017 – #TimeToReflect

Reflection: serious thought or consideration.

Taking a moment each day to reflect is important to your mental health. Reflecting can happen by drawing, writing, walking, or even meditation. People often fear reflection because they don’t understand it. Reflection is simply moments in time spent focusing on yourself & your mind. Remind yourself to take a breather and allow for a change of pace. Taking #TimeToReflect can enhance every aspect of your life.

“Self-reflection is a humbling process. It’s essential to find out why you think, say, and do certain things… then better yourself.”

― Sonya Teclai

October 2017 – #FindYourCreativity

Creativity: the use of the imagination or original ideas.

Everyone is creative in one way or another, sometimes it can be challenging to find what makes you creative. Thinking in innovative and out-of-the ordinary ways is helpful in finding a new way to solve a problem, it also helps grow creativity. Sometimes the secret to creativity is just letting your mind wander. Allow yourself to be frustrated, and use that as fuel to find creative growth. If you can #FindYourCreativity, you can expand it and share your skills with others.

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”

― Maya Angelou

November 2017 – #PracticeGratitude

Gratitude: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Expressing gratitude makes you a happier and healthier person. It allows you to notice what you have in your life, and gives you the opportunity to realize the positive, rather than focusing on the negative. It’s important to look at the little things that you can take for granted. Find something everyday that brings you gratitude and say thank you. #PracticeGratitude and you will find happiness where you didn’t even know it existed.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.”

― Melody Beattie

December 2017 – #GetJoyful

Joy: a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

Joy is always here throughout your life, happiness can be fleeting. Joy can be found even in times of sadness and struggle. Recognizing even the smallest moments that bring a smile to our face is a way to find joy in our lives. Your joy is contagious, human connection can bring a lasting smile to those around you. Take the time to use your senses to truly #GetJoyful and you will live life to the fullest.

Joy comes to us in ordinary moments. We risk missing out when we get too busy chasing down the extraordinary.”

― Brene Brown
